ABOUT THE NATION
In partnership with Southwest Stampede Athletics, a nonprofit corporation, Southwest Stampede Football encompasses both youth tackle and adult semi-pro football teams. Originally founded in 2006 and currently owned and operated by the Lanzarotto family since 2010, their mission is to develop young athletes and provide an avenue for adult players to continue to pursue their passion within the sport of football.
WHO WE ARE
After almost a decade of owning and operating the Southwest Stampede Semi-Pro Football Team, Southwest Stampede Athletics came to fruition in 2019. Driven by years of success with the semi-pro team and the program expansion by adding the youth tackle teams, the Athletics division was organized with the intent to help influence and shape the character of young athletes and continue to make leaders out of men. Our mission is to further develop athletes, both on and off the field. From our youngest players maintaining excellence in their school studies and defining what it means to be a student athlete to helping provide an avenue for our adults to continue to play as a stepping stone to the next level or allowing their passion for the sport to thrive.

The Southwest Stampede Semi-Pro team was founded in 2006 by Gene Garcia and Craig Brown. After moving from California to Arizona in 2005, it took some time for current owner, Sean Lanzarotto to re-ignite his passion to step back on the football field. He found the Stampede in 2008 and decided to suit up once again for the 2009 season. That year, the team finished 13-0 Undefeated Champions. In the following couple of years, the team would continue to be a dominant force in the Arizona Football League but were unable to hold on to the Championship title. The team unfortunately collapsed in the middle of the 2010 season, leaving the players and Stampede organization with an uncertain future. Sean, along side two teammates, Louis Cadriel and Jake Hightower, decided to take the bull by the horns, and carry on the Southwest Stampede name. The 2011 season was a year for change and with new ownership, they revamped the brand to what it is known for today. It would take a few more seasons to claim the Championship, but once again in 2014, the Stampede finished 13-0 Undefeated Champions. Ready for new challenges, in 2016 the Stampede joined the Gridiron Football League. They would make 3 consecutive Championship appearances but finally taking it home in 2018 under new Head Coach, Sean Lanzarotto, who had retired from playing after the 2017 season. 2018 also brought an Arizona State Championship title as the Stampede defeated a long time rival and AzFL Champions, the Head Hunters. 2019 brings a new era with the addition of the youth tackle football program and the Lanzarotto boys leading the herd. Guided by a history of success, our future is bright.
